Hi Julia,
I would just like to say a massive thank you for Ronnie,I have had him for nearly a year now and he is a star!
We have been to local competitions and pony club where Ronnie behaved impeccably taking everything in his stride.
I would highly recommend Southgate, Ronnie is everything you said he was and more.
Thanks again Ronnie is one in a million

Thank you for making a difficult decision easier, your friendly honest and pressure free approach made such a difference. Not only did you assess my horse for sales livery, but also let me try a selection of your lovely horses, again without any pressure and always understanding MY NEEDS. So thank you and I wish you all the best.

Hi Julia,

just to say a huge thank you for all your help. As you know I came to view Jersey with my 12 year old daughter Olivia to cross her off my list as she was too big and young in my opinion. How wrong was I !!! My daughter adores her, feels completely safe on her and she has proved to be completely trust worthy, calm, bomb proof and the most loving horse ever. Her flat work is coming along well can’t believe the improvement in Livvy she actually rides her with respect, kindness and maturity. After only 3 weeks we can’t imagine life without her . Everyone on the yard can’t help but stop and say hello to her as she is so beautiful. The biggest stamp of approval is from aunt D who really likes her and tells me I have a good one there!!!!!!! Many

Thanks Karen Gray

Monty's Doing Really Well Thanks! We've been to Cross Country Training Where He was Brilliant! And Soared over everything In front Of Him, His Dressage Has Improved Tons As well And Were Thinking of Entering A Couple of Dressage Tests Soon :) The Jumping Is Fabulous As well, We've Jumped 1m5 Now So Really Really Proud! And Spreads about 1m5 As well So Unbelievably Proud Of Him! Took Him To Another Show Where He Was Impeccably Behaved And Didn’t Bat An Eyelid At Most Of the Jumps Even Though We Don’t Have Fillers At Home! Everything Is Going Really Well As Always! I Wrote To Michael Kearney, His Last Owner And Have Found Out That Both His Parents Were 15.3hh Irish Sports Horses! He's Already Outgrown Them Though Being At Least 16hh And Gone Up To 6ft6 Rug Size! Got His 5th Birthday Coming Up At the End Of July And Our First Year Anniversary At The Beginning Of July! I Still Can't Believe How Well Everything’s Going!
And Yes Pictures Or Anything Else About Monty And Me For The Website Would Be Great!
Thank you again for finding Such a Brilliant Horse!

Just wanted to write and say a big thank you to Julia and all at Southgate Farm for their help with Sailor I was very impressed with Julia and her team when I first bought him from Southgate. The trial facilities were excellent and Sailor was beautiful horse, exactly as described.
Unfortunately the arrival of twin girls a year later meant that I was unable to ride as much I would have liked and it was only fair that Sailor went to a more exciting home. I contacted Julia and asked whether she would sell him on our behalf and I am delighted to say that she found a lovely home for him very quickly, without any complications. Having heard so many tales about unscrupulous dealers I had been a little wary, but I would thoroughly recommend Southgate. They were professional, knowledgeable and acted with integrity throughout both the buying and selling process.

Thank you so much
xx

Dear Julia

As it is nearly a year since I bought my wonderful mare Tori, 5 year old coloured Irish Cob X from you, I thought it was long overdue for me to write and thank you very much indeed for finding the perfect horse for me. She just continues to improve as she matures and our relationship grows. We have started competing in local Riding Club dressage competitions, the judges love her too! I hope to start jumping her this season.

If you remember, when I came to see you last Spring I was just recovering from a major injury, having broken my pelvis in 2 places, caused from a terrible fall from a young horse. Before my accident I had been a competitive amateur horse rider for over 20 years. Competing regularly in unaffiliated dressage, BE pre novice ODE and BSJA competitons successfully.

Approximately 6 months after my accident I was desperate to find a new horse to continue with my much loved hobby. I rather over estimated my fitness levels and I thought I could pick up where I had left off by purchasing that ‘special sharp competitive mount’. Unfortunately, the first horse I purchased from you turned out to be far too much for me to deal with and just 10 days from taking him home it was very apparent he was not right for me. True to your word and your very clear Conditions of Sale you took him back without any question. I must thank you very much for treating my situation in such a professional manner and true to you word within a couple of weeks you found my little treasure. I know at the time I did need a little persuasion she was the right horse for me but thank goodness I did listen to you and my friends. A lot of credit must to to you for your knowledge and professional approach.

I would, without question, thoroughly recommend your Establishment to anyone seriously thinking of purchasing or indeed selling a horse or pony.

Many thanks once again for your time and patience.

Best regards

Caroline Bone

Hi Julia

Here are a couple of pictures and my testimonial:

Thanks to Julia and all the staff at Southgate Farm for introducing Glider to us, after searching for 5 months and looking at over 20 horses I was just about to give up thinking I would never find a horse to take over from my old boy Ben who had to be retired after 15 years of faithful service.

It’s only a month since Glider arrived and seems as though we have had him forever, he has settled well into his new home with our other horses and the dogs, he’s been doing lots of hacking in the forest and out for lessons everyone loves him, he’s here to stay.

A big thank you Julia from Tricia and Bob Berkshire.

Hi Julia
Del has now been part of our family for nearly 4 years. He has become a
true "all rounder", although he was brought as MY little horse/friend, his
big heart and "I only want to do it right" attitude has meant he has become
a horse that everybody can share! Del has been to senior camp 3 times now,
with my daughter and her friends, he competes regularly in all PC activities
and is part of the School SJ team. Del hunts regularly throughout the
season, and has became a reliable and trusted steed, taking the hedges in
his stride, leading hunt horses, or standing on point and is happy to be up
front with the hounds or at the back doing gates!
I hope you can use 1 of the enclosed photos on your website, I am always
happy to recommend Southgate Farm to anyone seeking a good, solid, Irish
horse.
Yours Katie Giddings

  Dear Julia,
I wanted to let you know how happy I am with Jimbob (now called Echo) who we bought from you at the beginning of June this year.
He settled into his new yard with no problems whatsoever from the moment he came off the horsebox and hasn’t put a foot wrong since ?
Since he arrived we have hacked out regularly and he really enjoys it, going first, last or alone. Admittedly his schooling needs some fine tuning but he is now on a structured programme and is improving day by day.
He is a really friendly (if mischievous) little fella and is a firm favourite with all the young yard helpers.
Yesterday we did our first sponsored ride and he behaved impeccably, I was so proud of my little ginger nut ?
He is my horse of a lifetime and is definitely here to stay.
Thank you so very much,
Sue x

Hi Julia,
I am just writing to let you know how Frosty is and say thank you. He is everything that you said he is and everything that I want in a horse!
He has settled in well at the yard, and his schooling is coming on leaps and bounds. We have been out to some clinics and he behaved really well.
We hack out on a regular basis, and other than being upset by a huge cycling race (totally acceptable!) he is great.
My plan is to do dressage with frosty, but we have been doing some jumping too, he has given me lots of confidence and we are loving it!
I have attached some pictures from our first outing.
Thanks again for Frosty, we are both very happy

Hi Julia
So sorry for not emailing earlier but I just keep forgetting! Just wanted to let you know that i absolutely love Gucci and he is an absolute superstar! I took him to senior camp and he was so brave and jumped everything in sight without much hesitation although skinnies and water weren't his favourite things on the cross country course. We have also gone to several shows and recently came 4th at Crofton Manor in the 2f9 class which i was thrilled about. Although the odd leaf scares the life out of him he hacks out alone very well and in company he never ever hots up and just loves to lollop along in canter. Even mum who always said he would 'retire' when the horses got bigger then 15.2h loves him and handles him because he is so easy and is such a sweetheart. I've attached some picture of him recently :) i have recommended you so many time to people.
Thank you again for selling him to us,
Amy and Gucci

Hi Julia,

I will come and collect the rest of the old rugs when I am back week beginning 26th May.

I just wanted to email again to say a massive thank you once again for your service. You eased the pressure and stress of selling my horse completely and I will be recommending you to everyone I know. Not only did you keep me up to date regularly but your extensive knowledge meant that he was sold within 3/4 weeks of being with you and in this market is incredible.

Thank you once again and I wish you all the best,

Kitty

I just wanted you to know how delighted I am with Carlom who I bought from you last May. We hunted him a bit with the Fourburrow over the winter and he did a few dressage tests in the spring. His real passion though is show jumping! I affiliated him earlier this season and he has proved to be a little star. I have attached a recent picture of him competing in the small derby at Bicton Arena. He is very bold and brave and extremely keen in everything that he does. He really is part of the family now and we wouldn't be without him.

Kind regards

Hi Julia

I bought ‘Eddie’ now known as Toby a 16.2 appaloosa (now 17hh) off you March 12 – I would like to say thank you for coming across a lovely gentleman of a horse – he can put no foot wrong just does his job as asked and never questions. 2012 was an introduction of ridden life and shown most things which he took in his stride. 2013 I found Abi Walters a lovely rider who took Toby on and introduced him to eventing (his first outing at Twesledown came 3rd and since then always placed. This year he is back with Abi who is now doing BE100 events with him and who knows how he will fair this year – will keep you posted.

A couple of Piccys for your website from a happy owner.
Regards
Ruth Farris
PS – if you ever come across another Toby type – let me know – as plenty of people want one!

To everyone at Southgate farm,

Just thought I’d let you know how Moulin rouge (amber) is getting on.

Earlier this year I did some showing with her and she was amazingly well behaved for her first time out with us. She has also been taken out in the trailer to go for long hacks across Salisbury plain and she’s generally been amazing in every way. She’s also having lessons every week with a prix st.george dressage rider, and she’s improving so much every time she’s ridden. Amber is also trained in western and she’s taken to it really well. She’s the only horse I’ve ever had that does what it says on the tin!

Yours sincerely

  Hi Julia,

I just thought I would write to say that Logan and I are getting on
fabulously! He is an amazing little horse and I was very lucky to find him.
We had our first outing yesterday at a 12 mile sponsored ride with x country
jumps and he was better behaved than some horses twice his age! He has
already given me so much confidence in the short time I have had him and I
think we have lots of fun to come in the future.

I would also like to thank you and your staff for making the whole trying
and buying experience very relaxed and pleasant. I visited so many yards
before yours and was finding the whole experience very stressful and not
very nice at all. You and your staff made me feel welcome, relaxed and were
not pushy or judgemental at all.

Here's a photo of Logan and I from yesterday, I'm so pleased with him! And
no I wouldn't normally dress him in pink but the ride was pink themed!

Thanks again
Sam

Really excited about his future he has such a lovely willing nature :-)
We competed in our first hunter trial two weeks ago he flew round and came 7th out of a big class of competitors!
I would highly recommend you and your team, you were all fab when I came to try horses at your yard, and Harry is everything you said he was.
So thankyou again Harry really is everything I wanted and he is living a five star life-style with me lucky boy! ;-)

Thanks again

Dear Julia

I just wanted to send you a quick email to let you know how I'm getting on with Ted (now Teddy), the 13.2hh bay cob I bought from you in October this year. I truly never thought I would get back into riding but Teddy has given me all the confidence to take it up again. We have spent many hours out hacking on the South Downs and he has never put a foot wrong. He might only be pint-sized, but he has the biggest heart of any horse I've ever owned. He absolutely has a home for life with me and I hope to continue enjoying many more years of happy hacking with him. Thank you so much for helping me to find him - he truly is one in a million. I've attached a picture of Ted and me for you to see :-)

Kind regards

Dear Julia,

Just wanted to thank you for helping the heartbreaking process of selling my horse so much easier and not only that you helped me find a more suitable horse. All your staff were extremely helpful with no pressure what so ever. You sold Harry (the friesian X) to me after trying out a few of your horses just before last Christmas and what an absolute star he is, we've taken it slowly with him he's been to clinics a couple of low level dressage shows and he's even done some clear round jumping and our latest adventure was a trip to the beach and boy did he love it.
I really couldn't ask for a better horse everyone loves him and he's the sweetest gentle giant you could meet, he's now 17.1 and I'm sure he's still growing!
Thank you all so much.

It has been nearly 5 years since I brought Callum the 4 year old, Irish sports horse from you for my daughter as a surprise. He has given my daughter so much confidence and they have grown together. She has done a bit of jumping, X-Country and a sponsored ride with him and he has been a star (although very excited) he still made us proud. We are very lucky to have him, he has taught us all so much. He is one in a million. I just want to thank Southgate farm massively for everything you done with helping me find the perfect horse for my daughter. He has a forever home with us and he is part of our family. I bought Red from Southgate farm abut 5years ago now. He has been such a delight to own, real superstar. He is up for anything real all rounder uncomplicated ride. Loves his x-country and hunting and has been successful at show jumping, showing and also one day events. A true member of the family, and is here to stay.

Hi Julia

Just wanted to update you on the fabulous Sidney. Took him to dressage yesterday and he came 3rd. Very low key but perfect for him. He behaved impeccably. He has been the perfect boy so far and I cannot see that changing. Need to work on his top line now but took it easy over the winter as he still has a lot of growing to do.

You were spot on when you told me the kind of horse he is. He has fitted in with our lifestyle brilliantly, I cannot ask for more. Didn't want another baby but you were so right when you said it is the personality not the age that's important.

Thank you so much for finding him and hope you like the photos.
